The wild goose has played a cardinal role in the tradition of several civilisations, where its figure has even assumed mythical connotations. For centuries the goose has been worshipped as a symbol of life, rebirth and fertility – a guardian of humankind and a messenger of the Gods.

And it’s precisely between its sacred image and its playful attributes that the Wild Goose of Cracking Art is placed. Elected as the sentinel of art and environment, it became an indomitable and silent guardian, committed to protecting the park with the same devotion with whom it broods its eggs.

THE PENGUIN, THE FIRST ARTWORK IN RECYCLED CARBON

The first artwork is the Penguin, chosen for its strong symbolism: it is a social animal whose survival is linked to the problem of global warming and the consequent melting of the ice.

Despite being a much-loved animal, it is constantly endangered by the progress that on the one hand brings well-being to man and on the other takes it away from the Planet.

The Penguin then reminds us of the fundamental commitment to reducing CO2 emissions at a time in history when climate changes lead to sudden increase in temperatures.

The material that composes it comes from a Porsche Prototype race car.

The Penguin in recycled carbon is a limited edition artwork realised in 8 copies, signed and numbered.

The Cracking Art Cat was inspired by the European Cat, chosen explicitly for its diffusion, adaptability, and sociability. Despite being described as “common,” this cat is an animal of extraordinary beauty, intelligence, and endurance. It has a character both vivacious and curious, but also extremely adaptable to any environment and cohabitation. Elegant, sinuous, sensual, as well as mysterious, skilful and astute, domestic but with wild traits; it is an ambivalent animal, and, as such, never fully graspable. The cat, willing to share the domestic space without ever relying completely on its roommate, teaches us that nature can never be completely domesticated and constricted to endure human’s laws.

Cracking Art choses the Beagle to represent some of the values that it usually transmits in its creations: empathy, sociability, and playfulness. Its graceful and compact appearance and its natural vitality is particularly loved both by adults and children. Due to its sociability, size, and resistance, it has unfortunately become an ideal victim of animal testing. Representing it means paying homage to all animals that suffer the chilling methods man still adopts towards other living beings in order to chase its own well-being. In addition, the Beagle was the name of the boat that led Charles Darwin on the journey to elaborate the fundamental theory of evolution of the species.

The wolf is both an individual and social animal. On one hand, it communicates the idea of the pack and common action: wolves hunt, breed offspring and defend the territory in an integrated and coordinated way. On the other hand, the wolf is also related to literary and romantic loneliness and can represent individual strength. The wolf is both a guardian and a guide, associating protection and responsibility. It is also the animal that is most similar to the dog, representing the connection between nature and the domestic environment.

The elephant is a universal symbol of strength and memory. Depicted by Cracking Art in a “pushing” movement, it represents the importance of studying and understanding history by coming into direct physical contact with places and supporting them at the same time. The work also invites the sharing and the creation of a collective memory: by placing one’s own forehead against the elephant’s, one’s own personal story is metaphorically transmitted and receives, in return, the story present in the animal.

The origins of this Cracking animal is closely related to the exhibition entitled “The Sixth Continent” hosted by Oriocenter in 2014. The concept of “Sixth Continent” is associated to the idea of “Platisfera”: an endless plastic island that has been developing in the middle of Pacific since the 50s because of human pollution. The tropical fish becomes the new symbolic inhabitant of this artificial continent in order to express environmental sensitivity and irony.

One of the oldest creatures on our planet, the crocodile is the largest living dinosaur on earth. Thanks to its similarity to fairy-tale dragons, this primitivism is also associated with a playful and fantastic dimension. It also expresses a strong ironic meaning because of the popular phrase “crocodile tears,” which refers to a sadness that is insincere.
